Avron ben Dovid studied at the Art Students League in New York and at Pratt Institute in Washington, the Philadelphia School of Art, and at Sterling Arts in Mexico. He is an award-winning painter, and his works have been featured in galleries and fine arts institutions in North America, Mexico, and Israel. Beginning with a show at Wavery Gallery (NYC) in 1960, Avron’s resume reads like a chronology of 20th Century art history with particular reference to the abstract expressionist school that came of age and flowered so brilliantly through the 1940’s, 50’s and 60’s. In 1977, his works were exhibited with those of other artists in the “Topanga Group.” These were neighbors of his who lived in the Topanga Canyon area of Los Angeles, among them, Sam Francis, Larry Rivers and other renowned “second generation” abstract expressionists.

Abstract expressionist painter, Sam Francis, said about Avron’s work, “his paintings convey a feeling of abundance and vivacity that characterizes his mind and heart. Avron ben Dovid has grown far beyond the bounds of abstract expressionism. He has matured into an artist who paints purely in his own style".
