SUNY Rockland Portfolio Day Suffern, New York FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE DATE: August 5, 2004 CONTACT: Lena Hyun, Portfolio Day Director Reps from Over 20 Prominent Art School to Attend Portfolio Day at SUNY Rockland Community College SUNY Rockland Community College’s Art Department will host its sixth annual Regional Portfolio Day on Tuesday, October 26, 2004 from 4pm – 8pm. The event will be held in SUNY Rockland’s Field House, located at 145 College Road, Suffern, NY. Organized in collaboration with the Rockland Art Educators Association, this free event is geared for high school art students; as well as transfer and community college students. Portfolio Day at SUNY RCC is attended by over 200 art students from the tri-state area every year. Without traveling to Manhattan or further, high school art students will have the opportunity to meet with representatives of major art schools and college art programs, such as The Cooper Union School of Art, Fashion Institute of Technology, New York University, Parsons School of Design, Pratt Institute, Purchase College, School of Art+Design, and the School of Visual Arts. Art faculty and admissions counselors from distinguished art schools and programs throughout the country will be available to discuss, review and critique student artwork. Students will receive valuable advice about their work and how to develop their portfolio for college submission. Art school reps will also give students help in selecting the college best suited to their talents, interests and career goals. When possible, artwork from real life observation should be included. Slides can be presented in the case of large three-dimensional work. Students need not be overly concerned about framing or matting artwork. Please be advised that videos or zip disks will not be reviewed.
